Last night
Like many before
I was sleepless

Today
I was exhausted
Angry
Sad
Despondent

And then...
I kept an appointment
But I worried
It was hot
I was tired

But
At 1230 sharp
I arrived
At Shirland Canal
And met my mate
Of
Blue eye
Brown & white hair
And still
A little on edge

We made our way down the trail
By name of
cardiac Bypass
Tremored at some tree branches
And rippling creek

Viewed the vast canyon
Bleu Bleu River
Far below
Billowing white clouds
Adorning snow capped Mt.

We learned
We relaxed
Enjoyed each other’s company
It was a first
On the trail together
