Sights, Scents and Sounds

Of Monday Morning

Dull gray linear smokey clouds
Tinged with orange as the sun rises
The Tamarack Fire-a few hours away
Burning up some of my favorite forests
Closing miles and miles of PCT.

Barking dogs at the park
"Throw me the ball, please!"

Back home
Overpowering scent of cologne
Neighbor yellling ehh ehhh
As he often does.
He's a few screws short of a deck
But he plays cool 70's music.

Hammering 🔨 hammering 🔨 HammerIng 🔨
The folks across the street
Are getting a brand new roof.

A jet soars overhead and another
People zooming here and there
Warm coffee-mmmmm
Soothing sounds of a fountain
From the neighbor to the south

A rumbling generator
More hammering
Geeez why is that cologne so strong?
Did he dump the whole bottle on?

Something took two bites of my eggplant
I get the rest
5 tomatoes ripening on the vine
And a cucumber.

It's a noisy summer morning
Time to go to work : (

Dusty cobwebs
And peeking through knot holes
In old barn wood

Maybe a sagging
Wool ticked bed?

Conjuring up theories.
Transcribing thoughts

A deserted place?
Animals long since gone
Air heavy
With musty hay

A place where a key dropped
Somewhere in Ohio
